Embrace Life
This card uses Handsome Hunter, Always Artichoke, and Naturals Ivory. I used the hunter and artichoke inks, too. First I stamped the card with the Sanded Background, then I used my Crimper to make the hunter piece rippled. I stamped the same stamp from the Embrace Life set with artichoke first then with hunter to stamp on the ivory cardstock. I used the Color Spritzer Tool with a handsome hunter marker and spritzed on top of this small ivory piece. I love the shadowy effect that it created. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on the bottom right hand side of the card front.
I love how this one turned out! It doesn't show up as well in the photo as in person, but the flower is inked with Groovy Guava then I used the Ruby Red marker and highlighted some areas of the flower. My cardstock is Groovy Guava, Ruby Red and Very Vanilla and the inks are guava and ruby also. I added a little something by using a single copper brad. (Sorry to say that these were discontinued by Stampin' Up! a while back. That's why you have to make sure to get what you want before it's gone!) I love this card!
Here is one of my favorite color combos for spring: Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, and Bashful Blue with a little Confetti White on top. I used markers to color the flower, then after I stamped it, I stamped the "Embrace Life" words on top. Background is En Francais in Barely Banana with a couple of flowers stamped on top also with Barely Banana. I used DTP with Banana around the edges of the White piece. The final touch is a little bow with blue gingham ribbon.
Embossing is always fun!! Do you know how? If not, give me a call and I can teach you in no time. Color combo here is: Night of Navy, Basic Gray, and Bordering Blue. I embossed on the navy with Silver embossing powder. The background is partially stamped with the Print Pattern stamp using Basic Gray ink. Then I used my Basic Black marker and doodled around the Print Pattern a little bit.
A little purple is always fun. Here I used Perfect Plum and Pale Plum in cardstock, but only Perfect Plum ink. This is a very basic card. I added a little vanilla tafetta ribbon to the top layer to dress up the card a little bit. Oh, looking at it here makes me think that might go and add some glitter to it later. :0)
So, these are today's creations. I am so glad to have had time to play today. It is a very busy time of year---my gifts are still waiting to be wrapped, but now at least some cookies are made. I hope that you are having a wonderful day and wonderful Christmas season!!! Thanks for stopping by.
By the way, please feel free to leave comments whenever you want to. I switched to moderating my comments because I got a really weird comment that was not even in English. I do try to put them through as soon as I get notification though. Also, get into practice with leaving comments because I plan to have a little PRIZE coming right after Christmas!!! Watch for details....

New stamp set
The first card uses Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, and Confetti White. I used markers in Bashful Blue and Mellow Moss to color directly on the rubber stamp. Then I stamped on the paper and added the sentiment. This is my first try at a trifold card. On the right hand flap, I used my slit punch to make a little half circle to hold the card layers down. I punched a hole in the half circle to insert the moss ribbon through and tied it up.
The other card is made with River Rock, Ruby Red, Groovy Guava and Very Vanilla. I did a criss cross card--another first for me! I've been wanting to try these card folds and finally got around to it. Anyway, I used SU!'s beautiful new Ginger Blossom Designer Series Paper for the top layers of this card. (This is a piece of one sheet and since it is double sided paper, I just flipped over one piece and got two different looks!!) I also used the Scallop Punch and punched it twice to make it look like twice as many petals. I layered a ruby red 1 3/8" circle on that, then I stamped my flowers on the very vanilla piece and punched out with the 1 1/4" punch for the top layer of the center decoration.
I made my inside layers of ruby red & very vanilla and just added a little 3/4" circle with a flower stamped on it as a top tab. I also stamped the flowers in the bottom left hand corner of the inside layer.
This stamp set is beautiful and has this great matching Designer Series Paper to go with it!! I just got my order of new Spring/Summer Stampin' Up! Catalogs, so contact me right away to get your copy!
Also, don't forget that the Fall/Winter Stampin' Up! Catalog retiring sets will only be available until the end of December. Contact me by Dec 29th to place your order for those sets. Check HERE to find out about my special on retiring stamp sets.
Well, I'm heading out to a Christmas party now. Have a wonderful day and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! (in case it's after Christmas when I post again!)

Leaving TX today

Here's some stamping....
I used Stampin' Up!s 12"x12" textured cardstock in Basic Gray. I love the textured CS, have you tried it yet? Inside I used the Naturals White CS. My tabs (made with the Round Tab Punch) are done in Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, and Certainly Celery CS. Those are the colors of ink that I used, too. I also used the Spiral Punch for my inside white pages. I love, love, love that punch. So easy to use and such a cool effect. Want to see how it works? Just ask me and I'll show you! The main stamp set that I used is called BE HAPPY (found on pg 51 of the Fall/Winter catalog). I also used the WARM WORDS set for the little "adorable" word on the tag on the front. The middle of the flower on the front is one of SU!s circle rhinestone brads.
I don't have my dimensions with me here in TX, but I just played around until I found a size that worked. :0) The belly band is made of Night of Navy CS and then I stamped the flower and tag on naturals white CS and just cut them out. I used the brad to hold the belly band, flower and tag together. I did not have time to fill this little book with pictures yet, but maybe I can do that when I get home. I have lots of pictures from this trip. I plan to do one section for each of my 3 girls, then I will write their name on the tab for their section. I'll try to remember to take and post pictures again once I get that done.
Have a great day! We are headed out to Galveston in a few minutes. I'll probably take more pictures. Remember to take time during this busy season for some relaxation while stamping!!! Happy Stamping!

Remember the Alamo!
Here are a couple of pictures of the Alamo in San Antonio, TX. We went and watched the IMAX film about the Alamo before going to the actual site. Thanks for recommending that, Logan. It is the best way to do it if you historically challenged like I am!!! It was a beautiful area, right in the middle of the city.
The next day, we were off to the San Antonio Zoo. It was a really nice zoo. We enjoyed lots of unusual animals. Above are pictures of the Grizzly Bear who was really just a performer. He was actually posing for pictures! Then the other picture is of a fossa. Have you ever heard of one of those before? If you have watched the movie Madagascar then you have heard of one. That is the animal that was after the lemurs. The lemurs thought that the animals from NY (ie, the New York Giants!) could protect them from the fossa. These are very strange animals. The face is very cat like, but the body is odd and the tail is very, very long. We also saw a capybara (I think that I spelled that correctly). They are the largest member of the rodent family. I couldn't get a picture because my camera battery died, however just imagine a rat the size of a pig and you're picturing the capybara!!! Yuck! Thankfully, they live in South America so they won't be coming into my home looking for food. :0)
Well, that is my update for now. We are back in Houston now and will probably head out to Galveston tomorrow for the day. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and getting your Christmas gifts purchased and wrapped. Could anyone purchase and wrap mine for me while I am away?!? Blessings to you!
