Visiting with friends

These pictures are of a card that I submitted to a Stampin' Up! contest for the month of October. I'll let you know if I happen to win anything. Competition is tough though. For this card, I used Stampin' Up!'s new Pretties Kit. The flowers and beads in the Pretties Kit are just beautiful!!! A real WOW! for your cards. And you get lots of stuff in your kit for only $29.95. (If you click on the link above, you can see a list of items.)

The only stamp sets that I used were the new background stamp called En Francais and the sentiment set called Wonderful Words. My colors for this card are Always Artichoke, Bashful Blue, and Chocolate Chip. For my flower, I used Sponge Daubers to apply ink to the flower to make it blue. Then I used Chocolate Chip Craft ink to apply the background stamp directly to the flower. You want to make sure to let the craft ink dry for a little while before handling. Craft ink is a thicker ink that takes longer to dry. While that was drying, I stamped the same background stamp on the bashful blue cardstock with bashful blue ink. I then used the stamp pad directly on the edges of the paper to give a little bit of an aged effect. I punched the corners with the Ticket Corner punch. Next I roughed up the edges of the Chocolate Chip piece of cardstock using the Cutter Kit. The Cutter Kit is a fun tool that you can use to cut, score, perforate or rough up edges of cardstock, like I did. I also used Chocolate Chip ink directly to the piece of cardstock. Final assembly included some of Stampin' Up!s new Tafetta Ribbon (the Chocolate Chip variety for this sample). Then some of the beads and a pin from the Pretties Kit, plus an Always Artichoke button and some linen thread. I used glue dots and Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the flower, button and pin. And there you have it. I thought this card turned out beautifully. I've got my fingers crossed about the contest. It would be so much fun to see my name and a picture of my card in the Stampin' Up! monthly demo magazine. :0)

I didn't get any stamping done this weekend but my family had a wonderful visit with friends from India. They have come to visit the States for about six weeks and we had the privilege of spending the entire day with them on Saturday. We took them out to eat Chinese food. We thought they had probably had enough Indian food. :0) The picture above is with my husband and children and our friends.

Have a great day! Happy stamping!
